4-Day Gorillas & Golden Monkeys Tracking (Mid-Range)

Day 1: Kigali - Volcanoes National Park

An experienced Inkende Voyages driver-guide will pick you up from either your designated address or the airport in Kigali. Sit back and relax as we make our way to the breathtaking Volcanoes National Park, nestled in the north of Ruhengeri.

As we wind our way through the undulating hills of Rwanda, you’ll be treated to picturesque views of terraced landscapes that showcase the natural beauty and high altitudes of this stunning country. Upon arrival, settle into your lodge/hotel and enjoy a tranquil evening as you prepare for the excitement that awaits you the next day. Get ready for an epic adventure like no other!

Day 2: Golden Monkeys Tracking & Transfer to Bwindi

Experience the thrill of tracking the elusive golden monkeys in the lush forests of Rwanda’s Kinigi Park. After a briefing, set out early in the morning to seek out these endangered species, known for their unique behavior of rolling on bamboo stems. Witness their playful antics up close during a 1-hour encounter, as their shyness has been reduced through habituation.

Afterwards, embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, passing through breathtaking landscapes including tropical rainforests and the picturesque hills of Kigezi. Arrive at your lodge for a relaxing evening, soaking in the beauty of the surroundings and preparing for a thrilling adventure with the majestic mountain gorillas the next day. Enjoy a delicious dinner and settle in for a memorable overnight stay in the heart of gorilla land.

Day 3: Gorilla Tracking & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, you will be guided through the lush rainforest and bamboo-covered slopes by Uganda Wildlife Authority experts in search of a mountain gorilla family. The trek can be challenging, but the reward of seeing these magnificent creatures up close will make it all worth it. Trekking can last anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the group you encounter.

After the trek, enjoy a packed lunch before driving through terraced hills to the serene Lake Bunyonyi. Here, you can unwind with optional activities such as canoeing, swimming, and hiking on island trails. Immerse yourself in the local culture with community walks and birdwatching, listening to the melodic songs of exotic bird species. End your day with a delicious dinner and relaxing overnight stay at Heritage lodge, Bunyonyi, surrounded by the natural beauty of the lake.

Day 4: Transfer to Kigali in Rwanda for Departure

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the lodge before embarking on an exciting adventure. Bid farewell to your accommodation as you transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a guided canoe ride, where you’ll have the opportunity to soak in the beautiful surroundings and immerse yourself in nature.

Afterwards, cross the border into Rwanda and make your way to Kigali city, reflecting on the incredible experience of encountering the rare mountain apes. Stop for a delicious lunch along the way before arriving in Kigali late in the evening.
