Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali - Transfer to Bwindi in Uganda

Your adventure begins by meeting your knowledgeable safari guide in Kigali, Rwanda, who will escort you on a scenic drive to the Uganda-Rwanda border. As you journey through the picturesque countryside, with rolling hills that have earned Rwanda the nickname “land of a thousand hills,” you will be captivated by the beauty of the surroundings.

Upon arriving in Bwindi in the afternoon, you will settle into your accommodation and then embark on the fascinating Batwa Cultural trail. This immersive experience will take you through the villages of the Batwa people, where you will gain insight into their traditional way of life. Witness their expert cultivation of the hillsides and their admirable care for their beloved cows, which hold significant value in their community.

After a day filled with cultural exploration, indulge in a delicious dinner at the lodge and retire for the night.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Start your day with an early morning breakfast before heading to the Park’s headquarters for a briefing on the gorilla trekking rules. Trek through thick creepers with your knowledgeable guide to search for the elusive gorillas, a journey that can range from 2 to 6 hours. The dense, forested landscape is crisscrossed with animal trails, providing tourists with access to these magnificent creatures. Spend 1 hour with the gorillas once you find them before making your way to Lake Bunyonyi.

The drive to Lake Bunyonyi will take you through a stunning part of the country often likened to ‘the Switzerland of Africa’ due to its cool weather. This lake is renowned as one of the most beautiful spots in western Uganda, boasting the title of being the second deepest lake in Africa at 900 meters deep. It is also one of the few places in the country where swimming is considered safe, free from the risk of bilharzia.

End your day with a delicious dinner and a peaceful night’s rest at the lodge.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali

Start your day off right by waking up early and enjoying a delicious breakfast before setting out on a serene canoe ride on the picturesque lake.

This experience will be the perfect way to wrap up your unforgettable stay in the “Land of the Mountain Gorillas”. As you bid farewell to these incredible creatures, you’ll be left with lasting memories of your time spent with them.
